Description

We complete our current series this week with Part Two of BALANCING OUR EMOTIONS: Dealing with Depression.  We look once more at the teachings of ancient yogis on human emotional conditions. Last week, we explored yoga therapy for states of agitation and excess emotions. This week we consider the other end of the emotional spectrum states of deficiency, when a person might experience numbness, lack of energy and despondency that can lead to despair and depression.  In our practice we explore how to use breathing techniques, movement, and meditation and focused awareness, to move from hopelessness to a happier, more hopeful emotional state. You will leave this practice with an overall sense of well-being and an awakened vitality in your body, mind, and spirit.

This gentle class is suitable for all levels of students and beginners are welcome. The class will include standing, seated, and mat poses.

If this is your first time attending Gentle Yoga for Vitality, you will need to complete a health form before class.

Our classes are held at The United Church of Tallahassee, 1834 Mahan Dr, Tallahassee, FL 32308.

Each student is responsible for bringing the following:

  • a yoga mat or blanket to lie on,
  • a blanket or pillow for your head, and
  • a bolster, or extra pillow or rolled-up towel or blanket for the closing relaxation, and
  • any additional props that would maximize your comfort and safety during the practice.
