In this IN-PERSON 7-WEEK SERIES: Gentle Yoga for Vitality: Exploring Yoga ĀSANAS and Philosophy, we experience the different types of ĀSANAS (Yoga Postures), their benefits, how to adapt them for individual needs, and the best way to prepare and practice them. Each week, we also explore some aspect of yoga philosophy and the ancient yogis’ recommendations for living a focused and productive life.
Our weekly practice also includes breathing techniques, chant, and meditation, leading us to a greater understanding of how to stimulate, balance, and maintain the overall vitality of your body, mind, and spirit.
This gentle class is suitable for all levels of students and beginners are welcome. The focus of each of the 7 classes is as follows:
JAN 14 – Exploring FORWARD BENDS
JAN 14 – Exploring BACK BENDS
JAN 21 – Exploring TWISTS
JAN 28 – Exploring LATERAL BENDS
FEB 4 – Exploring INVERSION
FEB 11 – Exploring BALANCE
FEB 18 – Sequencing ĀSANAS
Classes will be held in the Sanctuary of the United Church in Tallahassee, 1834 Mahan Dr, Tallahassee, FL 32308.
Each student is responsible for bringing the following:
- a yoga mat or blanket to lie on,
- a blanket, beach towel, or pillow for your head, and
- a bolster, or extra pillow or rolled-up towel or blanket for the closing relaxation, and
- any additional props that would maximize your comfort and safety during the practice.
